Twelve people were arrested following a protest against the Corrib gas pipeline this week, including previously jailed Rossport Five member and 2007 Goldman Environment Prize winner Willie Corduff.
The 12, who included 11 men and one woman, were released without arrest on Tuesday and gardaí say a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The group are part of a newly formed community group who were taking part in a protest at Glengad Beach where the Corrib gas pipeline is to be brought ashore. The group are opposing the location of the €300m gas refinery 9km inland at Bellanaboy and say they want the gas refinery relocated to an area on the north coast of Mayo where they say it will present less of a health and safety hazard to the local community and the environment.
They claim Shell have no planning permission for the work they are carrying out at Glengad for the proposed onshore section of their pipeline.
