Prestigious award for Castlebar confectionery company

Castlebar confectionary company Just Desserts Ltd has been awarded the ‘Oscar’ in Irish food awards - the Blas na hÉireann Gold Medal.

This is the second year in a row that this local company have picked up this prestigious accolade.

In 2010 Just Desserts’ Millionaire Shortbread was awarded the gold medal and this year it was the turn of the hugely popular carrot cake muffins and rocky road gateau. The Black Forest cupcakes were also shortlisted in the final five in the confectionery category.

Just Desserts Ltd was established in Castlebar in 2003 by Brian and Bernie Campbell. The company develops and produces innovative confectionery products for the Irish market.

The company is now entering its ninth year in business and the Campbells are aware that the market is continuously evolving. In response, they are constantly updating their product range to satisfy changing consumer tastes and expectations.

Just Dessert products are currently available in Dunne’s Stores, SuperValu, Centra, Eurospar, Londis, Costcutter, Spar, and a range of smaller chains and independent stores throughout Ireland.

The Blas na hÉireann food awards is the biggest blind tasting of its kind in the world, and awards winners in more than 30 food categories following blind tastings by 60 judges of 1,300 of the best Irish products.
