Ballina welcomes new Aware support group

James Horan, manager of the Mayo senior football team, joined with Aware volunteers in Ballina to officially launch a new support group in the town, for individuals experiencing depression.

The new group meets every Wednesday at 8pm, in the Family Resource Centre, Abbey Street, Ardnaree, Ballina and is free of charge.

Aware support groups offer people a safe space to talk through particular concerns and explore options available to them.

Further information on this support group and all of Aware’s services is available from Kate on 087 299 3142.

More than 450,000 people in Ireland (one in ten ) experience depression at any one time, but unfortunately many people do not access the help and support that is available and can benefit them. All of Aware’s support services, including this new group, offer users the opportunity to learn tips and skills for managing the condition and minimising its impact.

The website aware.ie also offers online support groups and discussion forums; a locall helpline (1890 303 302 ) is available 365 days a year, and an email support service is accessible through [email protected]. These services are also available to family members or friends who may be concerned for a loved one. More information about depression and Aware’s services is available on www.aware.ie
