Spina bifida fundraising campaign in Mayo

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI ) is launching its Torc Pin Campaign in Mayo on October 21 to coincide with International Spina Bifida Awareness Month.

The aim of the campaign is to raise much needed funds for the vital work of SBHI in Mayo, and to raise awareness of spina bifida and hydrocephalus throughout the month.

The Torc pins cost €2 each and funds from the Torc Campaign will directly benefit SBHI members in areas such as youth development, occupational therapy, job facilitation, family support work, and continence management.

SBHI is a national voluntary organisation representing some 3,000 members nationwide. Spina bifida is a relatively common condition, which affects about one in every 1,000 children born per year in Ireland. Ireland has one of the highest incidences of spina bifida births in the world.
