Mundy and the Painbirds hit Ballina Arts Centre

Next Thursday October 20 (starting at 8pm ), Irish singer-songwriter Mundy will perform an intimate gig in Ballina Arts Centre. In April of this year he released his fifth studio album. Entitled Shuffle, the record is a collection of covers and is in effect his love song to his favourite American songwriters. For the album Mundy joined up with a new band – The Painbirds – a rootsy group which includes fiddle, keyboards, double bass and guitar.

Recorded with an organic feel, it sees Mundy glancing through a songbook that influenced his own writing down the years. Mundy and the Painbirds also take Mundy's own songs into a more rootsy form, which – oddly enough – is the way they were written.

Mundy and the Painbirds is a left hand turn off the road, loads of great energy and great songs can only make for a great tour. Ballina singer-songwriter Katie Sweeney will be the support act on the night. Admission is €15 and booking is essential.
