It is like a jungle sometimes unless you invented DJing with two turntables and a microphone back in the late seventies. Without the Grandmaster there would be no MC busting loose over your favourite hip hop jams, nobody scratching or mixing records and no grooves on the radio. The godfather of this genre, Grandmaster Flash, is coming to Castlebar this October 30 when he takes to the wheels of steel at Choice at the Royal. Grandmaster Flash introduced us to the seminal classics ‘White Lines’ and ‘The Message’ and in 2007 became the first hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame.
His show still involves two turntables, a microphone plus a great intro, worthy of a heavyweight boxing champion. He sold out The Village in Dublin when he last graced these shores, with 300 people turned away at the door. He headlined Sea Sessions, Bundoran, Donegal, in June and went down an absolute storm and now he is back for what promises to be another legendary night with the master DJ.
Adding to this wildstyle mashup in Choice at the Royal are KC of Today FM fame, the unstoppable Razor plus Boppin with Danny Mac & Mike Kelly in The Ruby Room. It is with great pleasure we welcome this Bronx native to the West of Ireland for what promises to be an unmissable show this October Bank Holiday Weekend at the Royal Theatre Castlebar. Admission is €15.
