Cllr Eugene McCormack has welcomed the news that the National Roads Authority has sanctioned €40,000 to the provision of footpaths along Station Road in Castlebar. The footpaths will extend from Hanley’s shop to Cathal Duffy’s garage. The funding has been obtained under the Road Safety Remedial Measures scheme. The allocation of funding will address a problem that had been highlighted for many years from a safety point of view as it was very dangerous for pedestrians and it will also improve the area from a visual aspect.
