The decline in house prices in the county continues, according to the latest report from property website daft.ie According to figures released, house prices in the third quarter of this year have fallen around the country an average of 3.5 per cent between June and September.
In Connacht, asking prices fell by an average of 2.7 per cent between June and September, about half the fall of 5.6 per cent seen in the second three months of 2011. The average asking price in Mayo in the third quarter of 2011 was €168,000, a fall of €99,000 from the peak.
In Mayo the average house prices for a one bedroom house is €86,000; €111,000 for a two bed; €139,000 for a three bed; €195,000 for a four bed; and €227,000 for a five bed.
