The Mayo u8, u10, u12, u14, u16, u18, senior, junior and intermediate cross country championships takes place at Ballina Athletic Club in Belleek, Ballina this Sunday, October 9. The underages races will start at 12pm and this will be followed by the senior, junior, and intermediate races. Over 400 school girls and boys converged on Ballina Athletic Club in Belleek last Thursday for the annual North Mayo cross country championships. Weather conditions were excellent which helped make the day more enjoyable for all. The Mayo National Schools Cross Country Championships took place in Belleek, Ballina yesterday, Thursday October 6 and qualifiers from that competition will go on to compete in the Connacht Championships in Dangan, Galway in on October 15 at 1pm.
Reeves keeps up his Spartan challenge
Having been selected to represent Mayo in the Spar Spartan Challenge, Noel Reeves from Kiltimagh completed the National Lottery Half Marathon in the Phoenix Park on Saturday September 17 in a fantastic time of 2hrs and 3min. Noel’s journey began back in July when he was selected by public vote to represent Mayo and join the 26 strong team of Spartans who have now completed the five mile, ten mile and half marathon under the guidance of fitness guru Karl Henry and nutrition expert Paula Mee who are spearheading the campaign.
