Government funding of €1 million has been awarded to the Cong Water Supply Scheme as part of the €1.9 million contract to improve the scheme. The money has been made available under the Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012 and has been welcomed by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
The works involve the laying of 6.84km of water mains. It will connect the top of the Milehill Group Water Scheme to Valve House No 25, located on The Neale Road, Ballinrobe, and extend from the end of the Milehill Group Water Scheme to the water tower in Cong village along with the associated fittings and valves.
Taoiseach Kenny said: “The proposed scheme will ensure that residents in Cong will have a high-quality water supply and the capacity to meet current and future needs.”
