A Bekan native is to contest the upcoming Dublin West by-election which is due to take place the same day as the presidential election, Thursday October 27.
Eithne Loftus, nee Tarpey from outside Claremorris, is a Fingal county councillor and has been chosen by the Fine Gael party to contest the by-election which was called following the death of Brian Lenihan.
Mrs Loftus’ father Thomas Tarpey served a term as a Fine Gael councillor on Mayo County Council.
