Mindfulness courses using two therapeutic methods

Rachel Sweetman, Hakomi psychotherapist, is running two more of her very popular certified personal development courses on mindfulness, over 10 Thursdays, starting September 29 in the Downhill House Hotel, Ballina.

Mindfulness is a practice of becoming compassionate and aware of ourselves in the present moment. Compassion dissolves fear as we learn to embrace our vulnerability, and meet ourselves with respect, understanding, presence, and kindness, instead of with self judgment and rejection.

Through the practice of mindfulness, we increase our capacity to be relaxed, well, trusting, grounded, peaceful and happy. As we become more deeply anchored within ourselves, we become much stronger, and less easily thrown about by external circumstances.

The book for Ms Sweetman’s morning course is A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, and for the evening Synchrodestiny by Deepak Chopra.

Rachel Sweetman has 25 years’ experience working as a psychotherapist and group facilitator.

She and artist Chris Doris moved from Dublin to Mayo 17 years ago and are rearing their two sons here. Doris is well known as an artist, particularly for the 1999 project when he spent 40 days on top of Croagh Patrick. He is a senior master’s student with Middlesex University and is available for sessions in core process psychotherapy.

The sliding scale fee for the course is €195-€275 (payable in weekly instalments ).

Rachel Sweetman is also available for individual appointments.
