The secret to being a great company is a combination of many factors which have their foundation in the people within your company - recruiting people with great attitudes, passion and pride in the work they do; the working environment - creating a culture that fosters loyalty, respect, courtesy, fairness, consideration, professionalism, investment in development, appreciation, openness to correction and a hunger for striving to do things better; and structures and procedures which are clearly defined, well communicated, understood and respected by everyone.
Get these basics right and the rest falls into place.
Sue Baird trained in London in hospitality management, working within five star hotels before specialising in HR and training. She is a member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development ), IITD (Institute of Training and Development ) and IHI (Irish Hospitality Institute ). Having worked in the UK, France, Italy and Canada, she returned to Ireland and created SABOC International in 1996.
Since then she has worked with many ‘people proud’ companies which are dedicated to providing a superb service experience to their customers. With 22 years’ experience working within training, development, and human resource management (HRM ), Baird is a specialist in the people business.
She has developed a range of bespoke training programmes aimed at meeting the needs of your business. Baird works in partnership with a diverse variety of companies across the west coast, mainly within the service sector, ie, retail, hospitality, catering, airports, and tourism.
In addition, she is a regular trainer for Mayo, Sligo, Donegal and Leitrim enterprise boards carrying out HR, recruitment, employment legislation and customer service skills programmes on their behalf as well as being a HR mentor for Enterprise Board clients.
Training is Sue Baird’s passion. She gets a real buzz from influencing the way people think and behave; helping them realise their own potential and expand their skills and knowledge.
From a HRM perspective, Baird works hand in hand with many small to medium sized companies (some of which, because of their size, do not have dedicated HR and training personnel ) to bring these skills and expertise to their business equation. Her role is to advise owner/managers in maximising abilities, helping resolve people problems, developing processes that ensure compliance with employment legislation - all which enhance a positive working environment.
The success of SABOC over the past 15 years and Baird’s reputation as a HR and training specialist has been because of the personal commitment, enthusiasm, and professional expertise that she brings to each client. The future is a positive one. Many progressive companies recognise the value of investing in training and developing their people as well as the benefits of having well defined HRM systems in place. It is a win win outcome for everyone: employers, employees, and customers. Sue Baird is delighted to work with companies which value these qualities to help them achieve their goals.
