A draft area plan for Ireland West Airport Knock will be complete by the end of October, a meeting of the Swinford electoral area committee was told this week.
The draft plan, which is nearing completion, will provide a robust blueprint for the development of the airport.
However Charlestown councillor Gerry Murray said a flood risk assessment was critical for the area which has been the subject of flooding recently.
Cllr Murray said a pipe travelling to the airport is exposed and the flooding has intensified in the last few weeks. He said this was a big issue for land owners.
