A 14-year-old youth appeared before the holiday sitting of Castlebar District Court for assault causing harm to another male on June 23 2011 at Church Lane, Westport.
Superintendent Mick Murray requested that additional conditions be attached to the young person’s bail; that of abstaining from alcohol or any other mind altering substances; to adhere to a curfew from 9pm to 8am; to sign on daily at Westport Garda Station; to surrender his passport (if he has one ); to not contact certain individuals or families and to stay out of Westport, except from attending school, from 7pm onwards. The superintendent also asked that he be given liberty to re-enter within 24 hours notice.
Judge Conal Gibbons remanded the young person on continuing bail to Westport Children’s Court on October 13, where there will be further instructions from the DPP, and for the possibility of further charges. Legal aid was granted.
