Glen Hansard in the frame to sell out exclusive Westport gig

The hottest ticket in town to the 36th Westport Arts Festival is expected to be Glen Hansard’s October 11 performance in the intimate surroundings of Matt Molloy’s Yard Bar. A paltry total of 80 tickets to see one of Ireland’s finest and best-known singer-songwriters in the hallowed venue run by Chieftains flautist Matt Molloy will be up for grabs today (Friday ) exclusively on westportartsfestival.com

This intimate, once-off solo show will be the final gig in the Frames frontman’s current world tour and will be his only performance in Ireland. Priced at a bargain €23, there is no doubt that legions of loyal Irish fans will be chomping at the bit to get them and a sell-out show is virtually guaranteed within hours of their release.

After a summer touring with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder in America, Hansard will visit The Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Spain. He had not planned an Irish date until he heard about Westport Arts Festival. The gig was added, and this homecoming in the west will now be the final show in the tour.

Hansard’s gig will bring the curtain down on this year's Westport Arts Festival – an annual celebration of the arts lasting 10 full days from October 1 to October 9, which brings an eclectic range of events to suit all ages and tastes to the seaside town. This year the lengthy line-up includes dance, music, visual arts, circus, family-friendly activities, poetry readings, street theatre, puppet shows, interactive theatre and much more.
