Shirley Piggins will be taking reservations for the Civic Trust outing on Saturday September 17 on 098 26738. The trip will take in Athenry castle, walls and abbey; Aughrim battle interpretative centre; and a talk and lunch at Ballingarry Park and probably one or two later stops.
The first lecture of this coming season will be The Nine Years’ War re-visited: some lesser known facets and/or interpretations of the 1590s crisis from the author of The Elizabethan Conquest of Ireland, Dr John McGurk.
This talk will be at The Atlantic Coast Hotel on September 20 at 8pm and all are welcome.
