Dear Editor,
On behalf of GOAL, I want to express my sincere thanks to the people of Ireland for responding so magnificently to our Horn of Africa Appeal.
As a result of your generosity, GOAL has been able to provide clean water to 140,000 people, and more than 90 metric tons of food to malnourished Somali women and children in the Somali region of Ethiopia. We are also dispensing large amounts of aid at the Dadaab refugee camps on Kenya’s border with Somalia, and assisting drought-stricken populations at 20 locations across six regions of Ethiopia.
Despite the severe economic difficulties they are experiencing here at home, once again the Irish people have contributed to GOAL to help the victims of a humanitarian catastrophe. Your support has been unfailing since GOAL’s establishment in 1977.
The instinctive benevolence of our people makes one proud to be Irish.
Yours etc,
John O’Shea,
