Fancy dress Reek climb in memory of loved one

Up to 80 people will climb Croagh Patrick on the morning of August 13 in order to raise funds for Cancer Care West and the Galway Hospice. The group from Galway are doing it in memory of Susie Downey Grealy (38 ) who passed away from cancer at the beginning of the year.

Friend of the family, Emma Corbett, who came up with the idea, said that Susie’s sisters Olivia and Rosie “as can be expected, have been struggling to get on with their days so I came up with an idea to climb Croagh Patrick.” Emma decided to put a quirky spin on the climb and honour Susie, “who was the ultimate queen of fancy dress” and therefore everyone who climbs will be in fancy dress, which will add a fun element to the climb.

At the top of the Reek the group hope to release balloons for Susie.
