Gardaí appeal for information on two conmen

Superintendent Ronan Galligan from Swinford Garda Station appealed to the public to relay any information they may have in relation to two conmen who are operating in the Mayo region.

Supt Galligan said on the Tommy Marren Show on Midwest Radio on Thursday morning, that the first male, whom gardaí are seeking, is an Asian man. This man sells clothes door-to-door and has been targeting elderly people. Once he engages people in conversation an accomplice gains entry to the house and steals money or items from the premises. This man has also stolen alone. The vehicle which this man uses is either a red Ford Fiesta or Focus with a UK registration.

The second man who gardaí are looking for is a French man who has been targeting people in the Knock area. The man is described as 45-years of age, is 5’ 11’’, his hair is apparently dyed black and he wears black rimmed glasses. This man preys on the good nature of people as he tells them that he has been a victim of crime and asks for people to help him.

The superintendent has asked anyone who has any information to contact Swinford Garda Station on 094 925 1250.
