Junior Workshop: Exploring Ceramics

Join Lisa Fahy on Tuesday November 11 between 4pm and 5pm for this junior workshop. View the museum’s ceramic collection and get to make your own design.This event is for children under fair accompanied by an adult.

Talk and Demonstration. National Science Week: Butter Making

How does milk turn into butter? Join Dawn Gawley on Thursday November 13 between 3.30pm and 4.30pm as she explains and demonstrates the process of butter-making. This event is for everyone over seven years of age.

The Knitting Circle

Exchange patterns, learn new techniques, bring along your knitting and join in. For adults and children over seven at this drop in event on Friday November 21 between 11am and 1pm.

Traditional Natural Dyeing

Join June Bourke as she uses natural materials to create colours for dyeing wool and cloth. This event will be of interest to art, science and home economics students in both junior and senior cycle

This event will take place on Wednesday November 12 between 11.30am and 2pm.

Interactive Performance. Living History

Join Michael Moylan of ‘Irish History live’ to experience living in the past ans everyday life in Ireland around the 1900s. Try on the clothes, find out about the food and much more.

Location. Education Room. This event will be of interest to history students in the junior cycle. This will take place on Thursday November 27 and Friday November 28 at 2.30pm.

Planet Earth: Our Place in Space

Based on the geological collections of the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History, this exhibition includes a collection of meteorites, many of which fell in Ireland, that tell us more about the origins of our planet. A highlight is the Limerick Meteorite that fell near Adare, County Limerick in 1813, Ireland's largest ever meteorite weighing in at 27 kilos. The exhibition will also feature some of the folk traditions associated with the moon and the stars. Running until spring 2009.
