An informal drop-in afternoon at Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, for all men over 55, will take place on Friday August 2 between 2pm and 4pm.

There will be free tea, coffee, and cake on the day. The event is a great opportunity to get out and meet others. If you can’t make it on the day but are interested and would like to get involved, contact Lorraine on 097 81079.

Benefit dance for sick child

A benefit dance for two-year-old Jack Lam, who suffers from a rare type of cancer, will take place in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on August 14. Music will be by Twice as Nice and doors open at 10pm.

The money raised on the night will help raise funds for the family who are financially struggling as Jack’s mother has to stay with him in Crumlin Hospital, while his father stays at home to look after their other baby.

Tickets are being sold door-to-door but can also be purchased at the Castlecourt Hotel, or at the door on the night. Tickets are €10.
