Jaguar XF gets new 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine

The new XF 2.2 i4 diesel will be the most fuel efficient vehicle in the Jaguar line-up, achieving 52.3mpg (5.4l/100km ) on the combined fuel consumption cycle.

Producing 190bhp and 450Nm of torque, the new turbo diesel engine offers the performance and refinement expected of a true Jaguar sports saloon.

Jaguar says major technical advances, including the introduction of a new ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and intelligent stop/start system, reduce CO2 emissions to 149g/km. This new transmission is fitted to all diesel derivatives within the XF range and reduces the 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine CO2 emissions by 10g to 169g/km, while also lowering fuel consumption.

The reduced emissions will mean annual road tax for the 2.2 i4 model will be €302 and the 3.0 V6 €447.

For 2012 model year the XF, which has won more than 80 international awards for both performance and styling, also receives bold new front and rear styling revisions to its appearance. These include a new larger front grille, sleeker HID bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights with a distinctive J-Blade signature, new bumpers, and revised tail lamps with LED stop, tail and directional indicators.

Upgraded interiors with new seat styles, instrument panel and optional 1200W Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, reinforce the exquisitely crafted and luxurious finish of the XF.

The new XF 2.2 i4 diesel starts from €44,995 ex-works and will be available in Ireland from September.
