Fine for man who was roaring and shouting at bystanders

A Ballyhaunis man was convicted and fined €300 at Ballyhaunis District Court this week after he pleaded guilty to public order offences.

Bernie McDonagh, 49 The Maples, Ballyhaunis was arrested by Garda John Devane on July 3 2011 at Upper Main Street, Ballyhaunis at 8.30pm after a complaint was made about a man acting in a threatening and abusive way on the street. Garda Devane told the court that he found an intoxicated McDonagh standing on the side of the street where he was shouting and roaring at people on the street.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined McDonnagh €300 for threatening and abusive behaviour in a public place and took a charge of being intoxicated in public into consideration.
