Westport to Dublin train disrupted by Roscommon Hospital protester

The Westport to Dublin train line was disrupted this week by a protester campaigning against cuts to A&E services at Roscommon County Hospital.

However the Roscommon Hospital Action Committee condemned the behaviour which disrupted services for three hours on Tuesday morning.

The protester climbed to the top of the railway bridge over the Shannon in Athlone with a banner.

The committee were annoyed by the man’s actions which caused upset to hospital appointments from patients in the west travelling to Dublin as well as other business and leisure travellers.
