Large crowds expected to arrive in Kiltimagh for Race2Glory

The time has finally arrived and competitors from across the country will flock to Kiltimagh, Co Mayo, on Saturday week July 16 to take part in the inaugural 40km Race2Glory multi-adventure race. Sign on for Race2Glory will take place in The Cill Aodain Court Hotel, on Friday July 15 between 6.30pm and 9pm and again on the Saturday between 9am and 11.30am. It is important that all competitors present themselves at registration as this is where they will receive their race number, map, and a Race2Glory Cooltex T-shirt. The race will commence at 1pm at Kiltimagh GAA Park.

After registration the competitors will make their way to Kiltimagh GAA pitch, this is both the start point and first transition point. Participants are asked to cycle to the GAA Park to avoid traffic on Park Road. For participants who will be travelling to Kiltimagh by car there are three main car parks in Kiltimagh all within walking distance of both The Cill Aodain Hotel and The GAA pitch. The car parks are located at the back of the church, beside SuperValu and beside Kiltimagh IRD.

The race will incorporate three stages. The first stage will be a 10km mountain run which will start at the GAA park and will bring competitors up a steep ascent to 850ft to Sliabh Carin, which will include a road/bog run, with a steep descent back to start. This is then followed by the second stage which includes a 23km cycle which will commence back at the GAA Park out to Craggagh Hill and will finish at Cairn International Trade Centre. The third and final stage is a 7km run which includes 100 metres of river running, with the finish line in the Market Square. If anyone would like to assist and volunteer their time on the day contact Race2Glory on 086 8539849 or email [email protected]. There is also time to register for just €45 by logging onto www.race2glory.com
