A 45-year-old father of three was disqualified from driving for three years at this week’s sitting of Ballina District Court after he pleaded guilty to drink driving on May 1 2011.
Gardaí attended a traffic accident on that date on Chapel Street, Foxford, where Ger Radek, 13 Slieve na Greine, Foxford, had crashed into a lamp-post. A breath sample was provided by the defendant after he was arrested which gave a reading of 71mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
The Polish man, who works as a mechanic in a local garage, had that evening had a few whiskeys with family members who were visiting him.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €500 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
