A 20-year-old man was disqualified from driving for one year at Tuesday’s Ballina District Court after he sat chatting to friends while he was parked in a disabled bay.
Garda Martin McNicholas observed Daniel Moyles, 37 The Hawthorns, Killala Road, Ballina, parked in a disabled bay on Tone Street on December 13 2010. The garda asked the defendant to move on, however Moyles continued to chat with friends. Moyles was asked to produce his driving licence, which was not produced at the time. An on the spot fine for parking in the disabled bay was issued, but was not paid.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Moyles €500 and disqualified him from driving for one year. A €50 fine was also imposed on him for failing to produce his driving licence.
