A young man was assaulted at Church Lane in Westport on Wednesday night and was brought to Mayo General Hospital. He has since been discharged.
A youth was arrested in connection with the assault. He was later released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 25555.
