The latest tax defaulters’ list published by Revenue (from the period of January 1 to March 31 ) show that a Castlebar man paid €1,487,742 as a settlement for the underdeclaration of income tax and VAT.
Sean Joyce, Kilkenny, Breaffy, Castlebar — a discount store proprietor — topped the list of 78 settlements accepted until the end of March.
Another Mayo settlement made was by Landa Distribution Co Ltd, Ballinamore, Kiltimagh. The ladies’ fashion and accessories retailers paid €55,665 for the underdeclaration of VAT.
The total of these 78 settlements was €15.56 million.
