Guess your time race a big success

Over 100 runners and walkers took part in the third annual Ballindine four mile guess your time race organised by David Huane of Mayo AC in aid of Western Alzheimers. Participants had to predict their finishing time before the race and were not allowed wear watches during it.

The winner was Brendan Monaghan from Tuam AC who predicted his time would be 26.15 and his timed effort was also 26.15. Una McGrath from Mayo AC predicted her time was 29.30 and came home in a time of 29.31, just one second out. Ambrose Gaughan from Foxford was also one second out in his predicted time finishing in a time of 29.31 having guessed a time of 29.30.

In the more traditional fastest person home event, Hugh Armstrong from Ballina AC was the winner, finishing in a time of 22.11. He was one second ahead of Anto Devaney in second place, with Dan O’Rourke finishing in third in a time of 23.12. In the women’s race Colette Tuohy and Mary Gleeson finished in a dead heat in a time of 25.05, with Angela O’Connor taking third in a time of 25.20.
