An intoxicated man who tried to open the passenger door of a moving Garda patrol van was before Ballina District Court this week after he failed to pay a fixed charge notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
On Christmas Eve 2010 at 3.45am, Patrick Fleming, Corballa, Enniscrone, Sligo attempted on two occasions to open the door of the Garda vehicle while it was in transit. A fixed charge penalty notice was issued, but it was not paid.
The 19-year-old part time farm worker was convicted and fined €250 by Judge William Hamill.
