Féile na Tuaithe, now in its seventh year, and which drew up to 25,000 visitors over two days last year, promises to be bigger, better, and more vibrant than ever.
The free, fun-filled, family-friendly weekend festival which takes place in the grounds of the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life in Turlough takes inspiration from the museum’s award-winning national folk life collection.
The festival boasts a thrilling entertainment line-up with displays from the West of Ireland Spaniel Club, Eagles Flying, and craft demonstrations including the art of the basketmaking, traditional boatmaking, woodturning, pottery, and harvest-knot making. This year, and to celebrate the Year of the Craft, the programme has a wonderful range of artisan craft producers from all over Ireland. There is also a tented area where visitors can sample and buy quality food from local producers.
New to the festival and to mark the Year of the Honeybee the West of Ireland Beekeepers’ Federation will be on hand to illustrate the potential of the honey bee.
This weekend of fun and entertainment is not to be missed. For more information on Féile na Tuaithe visit www.museum.ie/en/list/feile-2011 aspx or find it on Facebook.
