Nine schools were recognised recently for taking part in this year's Scríobh Leabhar project, which is organised by Foras na Gaeilge. The primary school pupils have taken not so baby steps on the way to becoming the seanchaí of the future by having their very own stories not only told but published in Irish.
Students composed, designed and published their own books in Irish and were recognised for their endeavours at a presentation on April 12 in the Mayo Education Centre. Bridget Breathnach, author of Lúlú agus an Oíche Ghlórach, presented the students with their awards.
Locally, the ‘Scríobh Leabhar’ scheme is managed by the Mayo Education Centre in conjunction with Foras na Gaeilge.
