Kiltane businessman Brendan Hegarty has taken over from Derek Reilly as President of the Erris Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Reilly had been President for the past nine years but has not totally stepped down from the organisation and has taken on the role of PRO. Mr Reilly, at the recent AGM, wished his successor and all the new appointed positions the best of luck for the coming months and years.
At the May meeting of the Erris Chamber the following items were discussed. The Chamber is to meet with the new Belmullet Superintendent to discuss working partnerships between the business community and local businesses in the coming weeks.
A number of working sub-committees have been set up to restart the work done by the Chamber over the past number of years. Groups will be focusing on issues such as the sewerage scheme for Belmullet, the R312 to Castlebar, broadband/internet upgrade for Erris, and the Community Futures project. If you would like to become active in any of these areas please contact the Chamber office on 097 20977 or [email protected]
Another item discussed was the relaunch of a community-based monthly newsletter carrying local news items and upcoming events. Finally the upgrading of the Chamber website is also a top priority, with the discussion including an A to Z listing of all business services in the Erris Area. Members of the Chamber avail of a listing for free. Check out errischamber.ie
