AIB ‘Build a Bank Challenge’ regional winners announced

St Mary’s Secondary School, Ballina, has been named customer loyalty winner in the regional final of the AIB Build a Bank Challenge, while Rice College, Westport, took the teamwork award.

A total of 22 schools from the northwest took part in this regional final which was held in The Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo.

For the regional final each school presented an exhibition of its bank to the judges. Students used a mixture of photographs, drawings, charts, and DVD presentations to represent their work. The judges asked the students from each participating school about the operation of their bank, how they encouraged regular savings and what customer loyalty programmes they ran. Many schools ran local competitions and raised funds for local charities to promote their bank.

The winning schools at the regional finals picked up a specially commissioned AIB Build a Bank Challenge trophy and all schools received a certificate of participation.
