Memorial walk for suicide prevention

Console is calling on families, friends, school friends and work colleagues to take to the streets of Galway for the 2011 Console Annual Memorial Walk in aid of the Suicide Bereaved and Suicide Prevention Service.

The charity is hoping that people from every county in Ireland will seize the opportunity to take part in the 6.5 kilometre challenge and help raise funds for families whose lives have been torn apart as a result of the loss of a loved one through suicide and those in suicidal Crisis.

The Annual Memorial Walk entitled Walking in Memory of Our Loved Ones and takes place on Sunday May 15 at 2pm against the backdrop of Galway Bay. The starting point is at the Claddagh Hall and the route leads right up to Blackrock and back around to the Claddagh Hall, where weary walkers can enjoy celebratory refreshments.

All monies raised from the walk will go towards offering counselling and support to families and children bereaved through suicide and those in suicidal crisis in their Renmore facility in Galway.

Console offers a 24-hour Freephone National Helpline (1800 201890 ) for those bereaved through suicide and a 24-hour Freephone National Suicide Prevention Helpline (1800 247 100 ) for those in suicidal crisis.
