Three year ban for man found walking away from crash

A Tuam man was given a three year disqualification from driving after he pleaded guilty to drink driving after he was found walking away from his van which he had crashed at the side of the road.

Garda Michelle Nolan told the court that she was on patrol on September 15 2010 when she found a van crashed on the Ballindine Road outside of Claremorris.

She went on to say that she found Christopher Lally of Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, Co Galway walking on the road a short time later.

When he admitted to her that he had been drinking, she arrested him and he provided a urine sample which returned a reading of 107 mlg per 100ml of urine.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Lally €500 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
