Number plate was left at scene of collision

A Ballinrobe man was disqualified from driving from for one year and fined €1,000 after he failed to remain at the scene of an accident in Claremorris.

Garda James Lardner told the court that on August 3 2010 he got a report of an traffic accident on James Street Claremorris at 2.45pm.

He went on to say that he spoke to the injured party whose parked car had been crashed into and was handed the number plate of the car that had collided with hers.

Garda Larder told the court that the offending car was located on the Neale Road, Claremorris a short time later and he arrested Simon Connolly of 35 Hazel Court, Ballinrobe in relation to the incident.

Judge Devins convicted and fined Connolly who pleaded guilty to failure to stop at the scene of an accident, €1,000 and disqualified him from driving for one year, recognisance was fixed in relation to the severity of the sentence.
