The possibility of US President Barrack Obama coming to visit Mayo picked up momentum this week. Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney said this week that there were “obvious reasons” why Mayo could be included on the State visit of the US President with it being the home of Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Minister Coveney made the remarks in Galway on Wednesday where he was hosting Prince Albert of Monaco at the Marine Institute. The news that Obama could be coming to Mayo will come as a great boost to the Mayo tourism industry following the visit this week of Prince Albert to the county.
Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring is also reported to have said that he is working alongside the Taoiseach to bring President Obama to the county.
