A 32-year-old industrial engineer from Ballinrobe was disqualified from driving for six years at this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.
Ronan O’Dea, 45 Cilloseighin, Ballinrobe, was arrested for drink driving on February 5 at 7.13pm. A breath sample later provided gave a reading of 68mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
On March 20 at 8.34pm, the defendant was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, however he refused to provide a sample at the Garda station.
The defendant, who has no previous convictions, is now addressing his alcohol problem.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined O’Dea €500 for drink driving in February and disqualified him from driving for three years. For the March charge, he was convicted and fined €750 and disqualified from driving for six years concurrent.
