Curves launches 2011 food drive

Curves has announced the launch of its annual food drive, calling women across the country to donate a bag of non-perishable groceries to charities in need of a little extra help during these tougher economic times. This great community initiative is open to existing and non-Curves members, with an added bonus for those who have not yet joined. Curves will waive its joining fee for any new member who donates a bag of groceries at her local club during the first two weeks of April.

The Curves’ annual food drive is now in its 13th year and Curves is also encouraging the wider local communities to donate non-perishable food items for the collection, which will then be donated to charities such as St Vincent de Paul, The Simon Community, and various women’s refuges. Last year, Curves clubs across Ireland collected groceries worth more than €30,000 which weighed in at some 15,000 pounds of food - the equivalent weight of a cement truck.
