The Courts Service have informed Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny TD that the Court Service will continue to operate in Ballyhaunis until the new facility is available in Claremorris.
In a letter from the Chief Executive of the Courts Service, Mr PJ Fitzpatrick, Deputy Kenny was informed that a new courtroom would be provided with adjoining judge’s chambers, court clerk’s office, consultation rooms and a legal practitioner’s room. There will also be a large public area, toilets and holdings cells. The new court will be built on a site adjacent to the proposed decentralised offices for the Office of Public Works.
Deputy Kenny commented: “This decision has been made for some time. At least people now know what is intended. It may be quite a while before the work is completed in Claremorris and the service commences there.”
