Suspended sentence for Claremorris man

A married father of eight, who was involved in an accident, was disqualified from driving for four years and given a suspended sentence at this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.

On February 6 2010, gardaí were called to a two car road traffic accident at Mount Street, Claremorris. Thomas Conroy, 12 Ard Rua, Claremorris, refused to provide a breath specimen at the Garda station when arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Conroy (37 ), who has previous road traffic convictions, was convicted and fined €1,000 by Judge Mary Devins, disqualified from driving for four years, and given a nine month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
