Castlebar was firmly placed on the gourmet map of Ireland as Bar One took the title of Best Gastro Pub in Mayo at the Connacht Irish Restaurant Awards 2011 in Galway this week.
“We are thrilled to receive this award and we thank our valued customers who voted for us,” said Mark Cadden, proprietor of Bar One, at the Connacht awards. “We are overwhelmed with the staggering level of support and good wishes that we have received.
“We are proud of our product at Bar One and work very hard to offer excellent quality and value for money. I would like to pay particular thanks to each member of my team at Bar One, all of whom share in tonight’s success.”
Bar One will now compete for the Regional and All Ireland Title in the Best Gastro Pub category which will be announced at the Irish Restaurant Awards in the Burlington Hotel Dublin on Wednesday May 25 2011.
Paul Cadden, president of the RAI, declared the night a resounding success for the industry in Connacht. “The Irish Restaurant Awards have cast a spotlight on Ireland’s hottest restaurants, gastropubs and chefs,” he said. “They have become a byword for quality, class and achievement - the awards everyone wants to win.
