Be good for GOAL and cover a mile this Good Friday

People of all ages across the west and south of the country will be gearing up for the Kingfisher Club’s annual “Metre to a Mile” challenge this Good Friday – April 22 – in aid of Goal to help raise funds for their projects in the developing world.

Children, adults and all those young at heart will be donning their sports gear or swim kits to walk, run, cycle, row or swim any distance from a metre to a mile. This will be available in the eight Kingfisher Clubs across Ireland on Good Friday with the aim of raising money to improve the lives of the poorest of the poor.

This event will be available to all Kingfisher members, but non-members may also join in, and be sponsored to raise money at any of the sites. Non-members will have complimentary access to the clubs during the duration of their own fundraising challenge.

Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, “A Metre to A Mile” has become a regular event at the Kingfisher Clubs, with members and guests raising a staggering €70,000 in the last three years alone. These funds have built much needed schools in Malawi, numerous houses in Uganda and an essential water sanitation project in Calcutta.

“We are hoping that as many people as possible will make the effort to take part in the challenge this year,” says GOAL’s Ronan Scully.

“The Kingfisher Clubs across the country look forward to opening their doors to help to raise money for people who so desperately need our help in GOAL project’s in the developing world,” says the Kingfisher’s Joe Cosgrove.
