Three men who were involved in a brawl outside a bar in Ballina were before Ballina District Court this week.
On September 20 2009, a fight broke out outside Brennan’s Lane, Ballina involving Kevin Devers, Knockleigha, Ballina; John Kennedy, 11 Knocklaha, Ballina; and Gus Connick, Gobbinstown, New Ross, Wexford.
Connick had been at a Christening party that night, while the other two defendants had been at a 40th party. A verbal argument started inside and a fight broke out outside the bar, which continued up the street. CCTV captured the incident.
Connick was charged with being threatening and abusive, while Kennedy and Devers were charged with assault on the brother of Connick. All three pleaded guilty.
Judge Mary Devins directed that all men contribute €100 to Mayo Roscommon Hospice and the judge applied the Probation Act.
