Man held onto wall while being arrested

A father of two who obstructed gardaí in arresting him by holding onto a wall, was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court.

Garda Michael Flaherty attended Fearon Terrace, Ballina on February 6 2011 at 2.28pm, due to an incident involving the North West SPCA. The SPCA were trying to deal with three dogs who had been mistreated.

Raymond Langdon, 40 Mount Assumpta, Ballina, was at the scene and was observed to be aggressive to the SPCA. He failed to leave the area when directed by gardaí and then resisted Garda arrest by holding onto a wall.

The court heard that Langdon took offence that members of the public had pointed out his mother’s house as where these mistreated dogs came from — the dogs had nothing to do with the family at all.

The defendant, who has previous convictions, was convicted and fined €300.
