Remains were discovered on Keel Beach, Achill, on Wednesday by a local person.
Gardaí were notified about the remains which are described as a foot part (between the ankle and knee ), fingers, and toes. A doctor and gardaí attended the scene and examined the remains.
The remains may not be human, but that of a mammal, but gardaí could not confirm this as of yet. However, a garda spokesperson said that no major investigation will be carried out into the discovery.
