A Claremorris man who was found in possession of four cannabis plants was ordered to pay €200 towards Mayo Mountain Rescue by Judge Mary Devins.
The court was told that Garda Russell Gibbons searched the home of Dylan Joyce at Bariel, Claremorris, Co Mayo at 6.30pm on August 1 2009 and in the search he found four cannabis plants with a value of €1,200. Joyce told the gardaí on the night in question the plants were his and for his own personal use.
The court was told that Joyce is a 37-year-old stonemason by trade who is currently back in college at GMIT Castlebar where he is studying construction management. The court was also told that Dylan no longer uses the drugs and that he was of modest financial means. Judge Mary Devins ordered that he pay €200 to Mayo Mountain Rescue by May 17 and she would deal with him under the Probation Act rather than a conviction.
